Hello again Mrs Brown, was thinking about you in the night! I hope this is not too personal, but you mentioned a bowel prolapse which makes me think you suspect this may be connected to the problem with bladder accidents when the urge strikes.  Not sure whether only your GP has diagnosed the prolapse, or if perhaps you have also been seen by a Gastroenterologist.  If not, I wonder whether this might be worth considering as an alternative first port of call?  If the prolapse makes emptying the bowel difficult and/or there is a tendency to constipation causing heavy bloating, you will probably realise this may be putting pressure on the bladder and adding to strain on the pelvic floor.  If you have noticed the accidents tend to occur when perhaps your bowel is fuller than you'd like, I wonder whether help with improving any bowel dysfunction might be valuable for the bladder control issue.  I certainly find that pelvic floor exercises are more difficult with a congested tummy.  In case you don't already know this, some Gastroenterology depts have consultants with a special interest in pelvic floor disorders and can offer investigations to see how well the relevant muscles function, treatment to improve bowel function or referral for pelvic floor physio if this is indicated.  I would hope your GP will know if this is the case in your area.

Hopefully resuming Vagifem alone will solve the problem and you yourself will know best what course of action feels right at this stage, but I wish you well with whatever you choose to do.

No problem- we all learn so much on here. It's a fabulous site.
Funny story- friend went along to appointment and took a while  to explain to the doc complete with examples of what she thought was wrong. The doc waited patiently while she lifted her arm up and down, tried to rotate it, verbose in the extreme. After 5 minutes of this she said to my friend " that's all very well Mrs x but you do realise that you're at the incontinence clinic" Well, my friend laughed so much that she had a wee accident! Got her appointments mixed up.And another friends elderly father had a sore willy ( sorry ) so the old soul phoned the Dr and was asked by the receptionist to explain what the problem was. Which he did in great detail. Silence at other end. Eventually the receptionist spluttered " Thank you for explaining that Mr Y - but you've actually phoned the dental surgery. I think you need to phone the Doctors surgery" He put the phone down to howls of laughter in the background. Bless him  ;D

 ;D ;D

Thank you so much ladies for all this great information.
It's given me such a lot to consider. I think I will start with Vagifem and see how that goes.
We do have a urodynamics clinic in my area so I will speak to my GP about it.
I'm going to have to choose very carefully as to what one I see. They mostly seem to be against HRT so that's not a great start.

To borrow  :o  :-\  :D

Lots of useful advice.  It is important that once we find something that eases symptoms or even better, works, that we stick with it!

Pity GPs don't specialise in menopause  :-\
