Patch advice
« on: April 03, 2017, 05:57:37 PM »

I've been using the gel for three weeks and have had to stop as have ME and was basically housebound all last week, it's the ALCHOL in it, thought it may be ok but it wasn't.
I'm either going to ask for femeston or Femseven patch.
Do I take a progestrogen with the patch?
Thank you x

Hi Lil22

You need a progestogen if you still have a uterus - in order to protect the lining and stop it growing - unless you already have a Mirena in place in which case you can ask for an oestrogen only patch.

I can't imagine the alcohol in the gel will be absorbed to any noticeable extent - there is only a tiny amount and most will be evaporated before it is absorbed. What side effects were you getting that you think were attributable to the estrogel and were you using a progestogen with it?

Hi Hurdity,
Thanks for reply, the same happened last time but thought I'd try again.
I could feel my ME getting worse and worse to the point I didn't have the energy
To chat on the phone.
ME makes you sensitive to chemicals, body lotions, hand sanitiser ect will bring the ME on bad
If they have ALCHOL in them.
Having ME you can read your body well and I stick to a very rigid routine with everything
So I no when something is not right.
If ever really poorly I go back to basics with food down to toothpastes.
I could tell was the gel and really had strong ALCHOL smell.
Xx
