I've just had a B12 (active) and folate test done as I'm wondering if I have a b12 deficiency?
My folate was below the range a couple of years ago, my gp wasn't interested in treating it at the time. I've since been looking into all the symptoms of low b12 and I have lots of them! I know a lot could be down to other things but something happened the other day that scared me and prompted me into getting tested. I was sat waiting at a red light but then all of a sudden I just went! Don't know why? Cars were beeping at me and it has really unnerved me 😕
I've also been dropping things and walking into things!
my results were
Active B12 70 pmol/L range is 25.1-165
Red cell folate 239 nmol/L range is 285.4 - 1474.7
HCT 0.454 range is 0.33-0.45 so that had been flagged as high
MCHC (g/L) 315 range is 300-350
I've only had my B12 tested twice before and each time it's decreased this time it's decreased again. Is there anyone who is being treated and what were your levels? (So I can compare)
I did find on ruh.nhs website that it said anyone with a very low serum <100ng/L should be loaded with b12 injections. There's so much conflicting information on what's 'normal' levels
