New menopausal nutcase!
« on: November 24, 2016, 03:44:25 PM »

Hello everyone

I'm new here but have been lurking a while.  Just to introduce myself, I'm 50, married with two grown up children - one at home still and the other with her dad (ex husband).  I had a hysterectomy at 35 for endometriosis, kept my ovaries, which finally seemed to give up about 4 years ago.

I'm on oestrogel 4 pumps daily (2 in morning, 2 in evening), testogel for libido (tiny blob daily - not convinced yet) and Vitamin D as I was found to be almost completely depleted.  My current HRT is what I've arrived at after much battling with GP (which I won't bore you with as it seems common) and finally having been referred to local consultant who was fab - even quoted NICE guidelines to my GP in a letter after I'd been to see her!

My only current issues are dreadful itchiness and anxiety, which is something new to me - its not too bad, but concerned in case it gets worse.  Aside from all things menopause, I'm unhappy at work, which is something I keep meaning to tackle and find something new, but it all seems a bit much right now.

I notice there's a program on tonight 7.30 on ITV "The Truth About Menopause" - I've not seen anyone else mention it - fingers crossed its actually useful!  Looking forward to getting to know you all  :)

Hi and welcome to MM Miss-Daisy
Bravo for getting the hormones you need - what a shame you had a battle - all too common I'm afraid.
There is a thread about the programme tonight - I'm sure there will be a good deal of discussion on this site about this tomorrow.
Anxiety is difficult to control - have you tried CBT or Mindful Meditation?
Itchiness could be anything - even central heating can make the skin dry and itchy - I use lashings of body moisturisers these days or I itch like hell.

Hi Daisy,
The programme has been mentioned here:
http://www.menopausematters.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,33908.0.html

It seems it will talk about the struggles with working during menopause.

Hi Miss-Daisy

 :welcomemm: from me too.

Great that you are getting estradiol and testosterone from your GP, after being referred locally - I presume through NHS? If so I am sure others might like to know which clinic - for those who live near anyway :)

Hope things do settle and your anxiety is manageable - after trying some of the techniques Dancinggirl suggests. I'm also a great believer in fresh air and exercise, walking in the country - for relaxation, and listening to music - live gigs maybe?

Hurdity x
