Bladder ache/pain
« on: January 29, 2016, 11:41:14 AM »

For 6 months I have had an ache in my bladder and it is low down behind my pubic bone, left hand side. It doesn't hurt to wee but it hurts afterwards. When I open my bowels it's like someone has kicked me there.  I have been on & off hrt & I am now on Esteogel 2 pumps & 100mg urogesteran for a week to stop my periods. I feel some urgency but an almost continuous pressure low down. Has anyone experienced this. I also use Vagifem. The gynaecologist thinks it's va but my problem is mainly my bladder area

The scan said I had adenmyosis so I don't know if that's causing the problem. The ultrasound showed inflammation in my urethra & base of bladder & gynae said my uterus was boggy and that I had va but it's confidence that this is the reason and it will ease

Just the hrt at the Moment to stop my period. Sometimes I move & it feels like my urethra is broken. Which I know it can't be. It was better on the hrt then I panicked & stop cos my Esteogen was high. Finally told consultant who wasn't pleased so I have started the her again. It feels like something is pushing into my bladder

Hi Peterspots,
I realize this is an old post, but I'm experiencing exactly the same bladder symptoms as you. It started a couple of weeks after I stopped continuous hrt 6 weeks ago after being on for 7 yrs. I'm now on Vagifem and am 7 days in on my two week load. It seems to have subsided a bit or I'm just getting used to it, not sure.
The pain seems to be more uncomfortable in the morning and subsides somewhat through the day.
Just curious how it all played out for you. Anyone else experience this?

Hi Annemarie, just wanted to say my bladder has been very badly effected by hormone changes...I find that the whole area aches. My menopause specialist says that the bladder has lots of estrogen receptors, so any reduction in estrogen will be felt in this area and in urethra. Some people will need both both systemic and local estrogen to relieve symptoms. I am now using Estring in the hope that eventually that will help, also estrogel.
Sorry I can't be more helpful.. just wanted you to know that you are not alone xx

Hi Annemaria

Just a point for information - if a member's name is shown in black with "guest" underneath it means they are no longer a member so won't be able to post. Peterspots came back briefly as Englishrose so you may see some of her later posts - otherwise I'm afraid she can't answer! Unfortunately you can't look back over her posts as you can with a member.

When I stopped HRT for 3 months over 5 years ago now - I got all sorts of unpleasant symptoms like this returning. Can you re-start HRT perhaps as well as using local oestrogen - as saffy says some need both (I do too)?

Oops..I didn't realize..thanks Hurdity. Also thank you Saffy for your experience.
I thought it was too good to be true to go off hrt and have no obvious symptoms. :(

I'm going to finish my two week Vagifem and if I don't see any improvement, I will see my
Gyn and discuss it. I did wonderful on continuous combined hrt for 7 years. I decided to go off them
myself. Mainly for fear of cancer as my mother had breast cancer late in life.
Worst part is I'm thinking my bladder will shatter in a million pieces if I have sex!  lol
