How to use Utrogestan?? Advice please
« on: January 26, 2016, 05:17:18 PM »

I am so pleased, after a visit to my GP today she has prescribed me Utrogestan & Estradot 50 even though she didn't have a clue about them! I actually had written down the info about both/does etc and she had to look them up as she had never heard of them  ??? I can't use them until tomorrow though as the chemist has to order them in. Now my problem is regarding the dose of the Utrogestan, I am going to begin taking it orally to see how I get on (even though I am a migraine sufferer) but the pack comes in 30 & I know the dose is usually 100mg for 25 days or 200mg for 12 days, which one will I do?? And will both produce a bleed as I am now 17 months post menopausal and would rather not have any bleeding? My GP had no clue so I asked the pharmacist and she had to look it up in her book & just said take 100mg for 25 days out of your 28 day cycle (which I knew) & I said "I don't have a cycle??" but she was just clueless so can someone advise please? I am wondering why can't we take them every day like a conti regime? Thank you

You can take one every day 25 days as a conti regime if you are post meno, many choose not to at first so they can see how they get on with the utrogeston  ;)
Maybe you need to try this way first if taking it orally especially to see how your migraines might be  :-\

I was prescribed the same as you....the meno specialist I saw said to take the 100mg for 25 days, at that time my last period had been 8 months previously.
She gave me the option to take it orally or to use vaginally if I got side effects.
