Hi everyone! Well, thank you all very much for ur advice! It is very much appreciated and has given me hope that all is not lost!

Mary, did ur specialist tell you why Tibolone is not good for younger women? My understanding was as long as u hadn't had a period for a whole 12 months you were fine? And "my" specialist thinks I am well into the menopause. My last blood results showed LH 12.7 - FSH 24.7 - oestradiol 167.

No idea what it means myself but that's what she said when looking at these numbers.

I am on day 6 of Tibolone. Apart from constant diarrhoea and side pain I feel fine. I am going on holidays tomorrow and come back on the 31st. So I'll stick to Tibolone for now. If belly pblm haven't at least calmed down by September I will go back to my GP and talk about the gel etc option, but seeing that I turned evil on the progestogene, I am a little bit worried...

I KNOW it's all trial and error, but it's been nearly 6 years for me!!! I have had enough and so has my family!!

I am glad to see that there are still two options for me and that has cheered me up tremendously!

So thank you to all of you and yes, I will keep u posted!

sev70, it sounds like you've got things well under control and if it ain't broke, don't fix it!  If you are happy on Tibolone, stick with it because finding the right type of HRT is difficult.  That said, if you have to put up endless nausea, I would imagine you will want to change your regime.  You mentioned that you don't get on with progesterone - me too.  The problem with the regime I am on is that I have to take Utrogestan and it can have side effects although fewer if taken vaginally and not too often.  There are also the dreaded periods.

The specialist didn't go into details about why he doesn't prescribe Tibolone for younger women but I would guess he is wedded to the gel because after years of research, he has found it has the best results by far.  I did ask about Tibolone thinking it might be the answer for me but he (and a gyno) did not think it would be very effective - I am severely intolerant to artificial progesterone so it may be something to do with that.

Have a nice holiday and please keep us posted!
