Buy a big notebook and make lists.
I am famous for my house moving lists
Nothing is left to chance....it's the only way I know how to cope with things.

Keep behind and put into a box and into the car so that the men don't put it into the removal van!!:
toilet rolls, hand towels, soap, bath towels
tea bags, coffee
kettle, mugs, spoons
milk, sugar
light bulbs
torches
blankets
hot water bottles
tins of soup, tin openers, dishes
a bucket and a bowl
make up beds as soon as they are delivered, that way you have somewhere to drop
find out before you get there where the nearest chippy
pets can go to kennels for a couple of days so that they don't do a runner ;-)
pet carriers, litter trays, spare litter: tins of food, leads, poop scoops: change dog tags and microchip details immediately

The one thing I did find out that no matter how organised the actual moving day goes pear shaped.
It's how you deal with it that counts......I decided to laugh as some of the things that happened were just ridiculous.
Our first box that was taken out was dropped. What else could you do but laugh.
The one important thing is the kettle, and the tea bags......don't pack them, removal men are thirsty beings

……… I was able to lodge with friends once our property was sole so could go back and give it a Very Good Clean before the new owners [friends] went in. I even left a hoover-thingy there ……. plus a table and chairs no longer required. I found the filling in the form for mail to be re-directed really useful.
