Depends on my mood!  If I'm on my own (or with my daughter) in the car, I listen to a range of styles of music from Celtic and mellow country to heavy rock .... I love singing along (I pick up the words very easily, and remember them - but singing-wise, I can't carry a tune in a bucket, so I only sing on my own or with Lady P who doesn't care!!).

If I really need to chill out, my go-to track is Albatross (Fleetwood Mac) - it transports me to somewhere calm and peaceful when I really need that time out.

Just thought of another one - the slow movement of the Saint Saens Organ Symphony.  Goooorgeous.  I was lucky enough to play the organ part in a performance of this, three years ago. I had to stay on the ball for that, but now I like to lie on the carpet and listen to it with my eyes shut!   (Also, this was the piece of music used in the film "Babe" several years ago.)

George Harrison esp "Here comes the Sun", "My Sweet Lord" etc.  I also adore Eva Cassidy's voice, she has/had the voice of an angel.  I like classical stuff too.

Well, I don't know what it was and I haven't had much luck trying to find out, but yesterday I was driving home, listening to some amazing music on Radio 3.  It was either around lunchtime or early evening - can't remember which!  The music was a mixture of orchestral and exotic birdsong.  Beautiful!  I was totally chilled, so much so that I had to remind myself to watch the road!

(Honorsmum - if you read this and you heard said music, do you have any idea what it was?  I don't think it was Messiaen.)

Thanks Millykin, yes, I've tried that.  The problem is, I can't remember whether I heard it when I was going out or when I was coming back!  There are a few things it could have been.................. :-\

Also for me its Julio Iglesias. OH and I went to so many Italian restaurants (still do) but it was so special then. They always played his songs in Italian, Spanish and English, we played then in the car too :) brings back memories of Italy and Spain too.

It was all very romantic as well as very sexy 8)

It is said that Julio music is the most played in the background when couples make love  :) perhaps I should put that on the Valentine thread.

I'd recommend Richard Hawley, I go into a state of calmness and bliss listening to him. "open Up Your Door" is a great track to start with and "Long Black Train"...wonderful.
