Briony you summed it up! I didn't want to stop taking it once I got into the rhythm - just feel more stable on a conti regime!

As far as I know it's completely ok to take continuously even if you are still having periods - I was too! Others use mirena when still having periods - same principle! My specialist told me to use conti as it would make me feel better as I had very very low progesterone. I believe there is a risk of some breakthrough bleeding but after the first month I didn't have any - not to say that you won't though! If you find it doesn't suit you, you can always just switch back!

That's fantastic Suzyq. Thanks so much! I thought you had to be past peri to do it that way. You also make me wonder about my own progesterone levels, especially as I've seen lots of posts where you've mentioned your earlier symptoms and I've thought 'that so  sounds like me!'. You don't know how much you've helped me! I did wonder about having a Mirena, but chickened out when I saw how badly  it had affected some of my friends' skin. (Mine has got worse and worse since I turned 40 - I should get shares in concealer!) x

Hi thanks for all your replies again - Suzyq not sure about taking Ultrogestan continuously though it seems to work great for you, Ive put the Estradot patch back on yesterday and intend going back on the Ultrogestan for 12 days then 15 day break initially, ideally I would have started the this yesterday but Im feeling so rough with this cold and lack of sleep through coughing I just really could not face the grogginess on top of how I already feel, but will hopefully take tonight vaginally as Im still off work for a few days x
