can grief cause you to have a period
« on: October 08, 2014, 08:51:19 AM »

I went to my Aunt's funeral last week and on Saturday I came on for the first time in 5 months. I am bleeding quite heavily and in a lot of pain. Does anyone know if this can happen or could it be something else?

Hi - Sorry to hear about your Aunt.  I'm not sure about grief causing you to have a period, but my menopausal symptoms started just after I lost my Dad in 2012, so I think stress/grief can be linked to things.

Through the peri meno stage it's not uncommon to have a long gap from periods and for them to start up again.  I personally think our emotional state has an influence as well.  DG x

Sorry to hear about your Aunt.  Did you meet people not often seen?

Yep - my periods were influenced by my emotional state.

Thank you for your comments. Yes I did see people I hadn't seen in ages which was nice.

My period is quite heavy and some clots. Been in contact with the doctor and if its no better in a few days I need to contact him again. Did have a better nights sleep last night which seems to have helped a bit.
