Same here Honeybun unless it's Ercol or G-plan - trouble is new houses are too small to take tradiational furniture which is why everyone rushes to Ikea-type warehouses  >:(

Most Charities now have furniture outlets so it's worth while contacting if 1 wants to shift furniture freely  ;)

Gumtree is good for free adverts.
EBay as long as buyer uplifts.

I used the Glasgow Herald for some really special furniture. Maybe one of the bigger newspapers might have something similar in your area.

Ours is solid wood and really nice but it is always covered up. Hubby is such a messy eater and he also uses one end of it for his laptop and someone is guaranteed to put a hot cup of tea down without using a mat, and then there's the grandchildren........ :)

Table has grown on me a bit.  I've taken a chair away so it looks less crowded.  I can't face looking again for another one - I do like this one just it's a bit big and wrong colour. Lol.
See how it looks in the morning.
Night all xx

Aberdeen ??

We have quite a lot of auction houses near us. Some are just a load of other people's rubbish. Others.....posh Glasgow ones are so very expensive.

There is a police auction sale near us a few times a year....now there is a place to bag a bargain.

Used to go a lot when we had a big Victorian house. Not so much now although we do go to the police auctions. Some of the most unbelievable stuff comes through and can go for a song.
McTears Auction house in Glasgow has stuff way beyond my budget but I get emails as I have bought before years ago  and I love browsing the catalogue online especially the jewellery. Rings that go for thousands.

We have a good few places that I like to browse through. The antique road trip enjoyed one of them too.

we didn't get into Glasgow and didn't find anywhere to browse outside of the City  :'( …….. apart from Charity shops in Helensburgh  ::) - we started going when we sold some 'family 'silver in 2006 and haven't looked back  ;D

There are quite a lot outside the city CLKD. I guess like your area you just need  to know where to look.
Glasgow is the very best in my area for furniture sales.

The police auctions are held in quite a rural location.

Only one auctioneer here, although some police auctions from time to time.

Chairs I've found are from JL. They too are folding but look decidedly more comfortable than current ones.  Will need to check out next time I'm in town.
