Honeybun - I'm not sure whether you mean at home or out as this is likely to be different (for me anyway)
Funny enough my husband was telling me I should wear long-johns this morning - as soon as it's cold he wears them under his jeans until about April - but he's outside a lot!!! Not a garment I would wear! They are just like leggings though, just a bit looser.
Indoors I just wear jeans of different colours and types (the stretchy fitted kind) but always with something long over it - tunic things or long jumpers and when cold I put on a lovely thick cardigan - I have several of these. Have a thick mohair one on atm that I bought from a festival. On my feet I wear those slipper boots which keep me really toasty!
Outside I put on some knee-length boots, and I'm fine.
When it gets really cold - which I expect it will at some point, I try to fit a pair of leggings under the jeans - but these might make you itch? Also thicker socks!!
I think if you wear lots of warm layers on the top as well your legs won't feel the cold.
