Hi it could be Vaginal Atrophy, excuse the spelling, and it is worth asking your GP about Vagifem, I am on Monday as I suffer from something similar and was told it could be that and that stuff can help

Yes I agree with moonbeam - I use vagifem or Orthogynest pessaries as well as full HRT (patches) because the patches weren't enough to keep things plumped up down there. Several of us post-meno women do the same.

As the others have said, local oestrogen DOES help.
Patches stop hot flushes, but down there needs something more.
My GP had said patches would be sufficient for oestrogen in that area.
I have not found this to be the case

Hi Charliegirl
I was like you back and forth to GP complaining of thrush and was not listened too I explained I even used moisturisers to help and was told to stop using as this could make it worse!! I did follow her instructions but of course it made it a lot worse eventually saw a GP who asked has anyone suggested Vagifem, of course I answered no, I have been on it for a month now and it has changed my life okay when enjoying our relationship again i use a water based moisturiser which helps but is still early days as I believe it takes time to work thoroughly. Don't give up and be fobbed off with canesten that made things worse for me it burned badly couldn't walk, had to take pain killers to deal with the pain.
Good luck

Some GPs are really not on the ball with this!!!
I wrote down that I wanted vagifem, after finding out about it on here. Took it to my GP and asked him to write a prescription for it, he did, don't think he wanted to hear the details of sand paper sex!!!
