Hi lynn
It's always difficult taking any form of HRT while you are still peri-menopausal and having some sort of cycle. This is because your own hormones are flucutating sometimes dramatically so this can override the HRT. Also you may well have had some heavy bleeding anyway as this can also happen while peri even without HRT.
One thing I would say about Tridestra or any 3 monthly HRT (especially while peri)- it means your womb lining will build up on the oestrogen only tablets so may well be extra heavy at the end of the 3 months, and you may well get breakthrough bleeding if your natural cycle begins to get more frequent than 3 months.
Unfortunately as the others have said there is no other officially licensed long cycle HRT. However several of us on here do use long cycle HRT with the consent of our specialist or GP. I am 60 and post-meno and have a two monthly cycle and some others are too.
I use Estradot patches and separate Progesterone micronised - called Utrogestan - which I use vaginally. That is the only way you can have a longer cycle using patches.( ie separate oestrogen and progesterone) In the circumstances ( your GP giving you the wrong product or at least without proper discussion) then maybe you could ask to be referred to a menopause clinic in your area if there is one, to discuss the options with someone who knows what they are doing!
Incidentally I understand from what some women have said, that long cycle HRT (ie 3 months) is not much in favour with the leading gynaes although I think 6 weeks - 2 months can be prescribed off licence (or done unoffocially as some of us are also doing...)
Hope this helps
