Utrogestan (continuous) side effects
« on: December 10, 2021, 01:26:02 PM »

Hi all,

I am on my 11th day of continuous Utrogestan and the side effects are not pleasant: anxiety, groggy/hungover feeling when I wake up, flat mood, no libido and night sweats. All of these are since starting the Utrogestan.

I would really just like some reassurance from women who have found that these have eased with time!

I have quite a complex history, including a poor reaction to oestrogel and a PMDD-like mood disorder that I experience post-menstrually (for the last two years, I'm
46). I don't tolerate 100mg Utrogestan at all - it makes me incredibly anxious and depressed. Clearly a very hormonally sensitive brain.

I'm under a very good specialist who is
trialling me on progesterone-only for three months (I have no symptoms of low oestrogen, or at least didn't until I started the Utrogestan!) and she has said it can take 4-6 weeks to adjust to a new hormonal regime but I'm just not sure I can hang on in there that long.

I'm really missing the three good weeks I had a month but the fourth was just so disabling I felt I had to try something!

It would be great to here from others who struggled initially on the Utrogestan but then adjusted.
