Continuous HRT but break to bleed?
« on: July 17, 2024, 09:22:22 PM »

Can you take HRT on a continuous basis so rather than progesterone just for the 12 days per cycle take it continuously but still stop to bleed? I don’t know if what I’m asking is very clear but I am peri and think I need to be more stable with less hormone fluctuations through my cycle. So could I take progesterone until day 26 and then stop to bleed and start progesterone again a few days after bleed started? Thanks.

You can take it 25 days out of 28.

You can take it continuously every day if you want to.

There is no medical reason why we have to have withdrawal bleeds.

If you are still cycling naturally this may make your bleed pattern more erratic, however you may be happy to make this trade off in order to get off the progesterone rollercoaster and ride the monorail instead.

There are other options in perimenopause which may suit better - I am on combined pill Zoely which I take continuously, this keeps me bleed free AND hormonally stable.
