Hi there I am looking for some advice.

For about 20 years on and off I merrily took the combined pill until my doctor told me I was too old and took me off it.
He put me on the mini pill which basically gave me a rolling panic attack for hours.
I then used the combined pill Qlaira and it gave me an acute anxiety episode so horrific I thought I was going mad.
I paid to go private and was told by a menopause specialist that my choices were the merina coil or ssris.
I tried the coil, 24hrs in I felt the familiar feeling coming on and (basically it feels like I am going mad). I got it removed immediately and the symptoms wore off.

I am very sad because I want to take hrt very much, fast forward 4 years and I am definitely in peri (46yrs). I have done some research and discovered although qlaira has body identical oestrogen it has synthetic progesterone and I am thinking maybe that was the problem and maybe its worth trying, but in microscopic doses!!! Is that even possible do you think?

I have been diagnosed with pmdd which for me I think is basically my body being a bit allergic to my own hormones - antihistamines always help my symptoms and interestingly with the coil they helped relieve my symptoms until it could be removed.

But it seems to be the rise and fall thats the problem rather than the constant (I have problems when I ovulate and when my period is due) so I wonder if i could get an even keel with hrt maybe id be ok. Or I might be mad for even considering it.

Any thoughts would be most welcome as doctors dont seem to understand at all.

thanks in advance xx
