Testosterone or just life??
« on: June 20, 2024, 06:34:11 PM »

After a bit of a wild HRT journey, I think I'm on the right path and a lot of symptoms (headaches, , atrophy, anxiety, low mood and motivation) have largely gone. Currently on 2.5 pumps Oestrogel and 100mcg Utrogestan orally.

But I am finding life generally quite difficult. It's been a tough five years even before the peri set in (traumatic divorce, sudden death of my Dad and two other people I know, two house moves, recent redundancy).

Trying to find a new job and generally deal with whatever else life throws my way is proving more challenging than usual, in particular a lack of confidence and feeling resilient, and I'm wondering if Testosterone might help?

Hi,
I have read that testosterone does help alot of women and also my meno specialist speaks highly of it..
I tried Androfeme for 6 months but unfortunately it made no difference to me as my main symptom is anxiety and it didn't touch it..although for some women it does..definitely worth trying to see either way :)

I think it would be difficult to justify testosterone on the grounds of low confidence and resilience alone.

By those criteria my 15 year old son would be a candidate!

That's not to say you wouldn't get any benefit from it but it's not what I'd lead with if you were looking for a prescription.

Do you have any specific symptoms suggestive of low androgens such as loss of muscle (or poor gains), loss of body hair, fatigue, dry, thinning skin, reduced concentration/cognitive function or low libido?

Of course only the last item on that list will qualify for a prescription on the NHS, as women's quality of life doesn't really matter much, but if there's potentially a male partner not getting his oats they will send it over to your house in a blue light ambulance 😉

Thank you. I suppose I'm going on how I used to be before peri, even when dealing with incredibly difficult things, I could push through work . But I've been through so much that it's hard to know if I'm just burnt out.

I still get brain fog, I have lost hair all over my body and a host of rashes and skin ailments. My libido has taken a hit but again, who knows whether that's stress, hormones or all of the above!

Perhaps I'll lead with libido and see where it gets me.
