Reduced Evorel patch need some advice please
« on: June 08, 2024, 08:25:58 AM »

This is my first post and I am hoping someone can give me some advice.
I have been on Evorel patches for a while and settled on a 100 Evorel patch for the first two weeks of the month with conti and 50 for the second part of the month. I became bloated and a bit moody. I reduced down to 75 and felt better in many ways. Bloating went, mood improved and I became less sweaty at night. However the second of the of the month I felt withdrawn and tired and my period came a few days earlier than the patch swap.
I am now past my period but struggling with dryness inside and burning soreness. I have vagifem three times a week.
So my conundrum is this ; do I panic and go back to 100 assuming my body needs more. Or is it just due to the drop and will my body get used to it ?
Also if I increase my vagifem to four or five times a week will that be enough ?
I don’t know if I need to wait out a few months as it might calm down or just accept my body needs more and tolerate the symptoms of being on a higher dose.
🙈 I hope that is not too confusing and someone can relate and advise thank you.

Hi that’s a pretty high dose, is there a reason why you’re on 100

If you feel better on the lower dose aside from the va I would stick to this dose and try to sort out the va with localised oestrogen. Too much oestrogen can be just as awful as too little. Sorry I can't advise on the va but there are lots of threads on it if you don't get a response her (I think one is 'the burning club'). The amount of progesterone in the conti patch is sufficient only for the oestrogen in the same batch so if you add more oestrogen you need to add more progesterone too.

Thank you for replying. I have been on different doses for over a year now and was advised that as I am in my forties still I may need a higher dose of estrogen to deal with the symptoms.
I was originally taking Utrogestan/ provera with the Evorel and as the oestrogen increased they did not increase the progesterone as they said it was the maximum dose. So when they swapped me back to the patches the pharmacist said I just needed the amount in the conti patch.
I will check that with the specialist again though thank you.
Yes I am wondering if vagifem alone will resolve the VA. I have been taking it awhile and am not sure if increasing the number of days I take it will be enough to resolve it.
Ideally it would be amazing if we were allowed to amend the oestrogen dose at different times of the month dependent on where our own levels were. Weeks one and two I need less but weeks three and four more would be nice.
