Hi

Thanks for adding me

Edited to make sense 🌺

I’m 61 no period since 2016. I had no symptoms leading upto or after , I did however suffer heavy periods and iron deficiency for many years so was so pleased when they stopped , I felt liberated

Then in Feb this year I was prescribed patches which wouldn’t stick as I was too wet lol , then a pump and a tablet which had no effect whatsoever and then Estelle Duet Conti

Two days into taking them I started to lose gunge and was told it’s normal and to give it three months.

A few days after starting the conti I experienced severe abdominal pain , they took a sample and gave me tablets for a suspected UTI. The urine sample came back but showed no infection but I had unseen blood in my urine.

I took a further test two weeks later and the result was the same and was placed on a 2 week pathway.

My GP saw the letter from the hospital and cancelled the appt saying the HRT bleeding was the cause of the unseen blood ?

I was supplied with some dipsticks and told to take the test two weekly. The unseen blood result is positive dark green and gravity is off the scale. Bilirubin positive, glucose positive . The result was the same bleeding or not bleeding in the beginning.

4 months in and I am bleeding all the time. Varying from purple to black. Big chunks of whatever being added to the mix. The bleeding is worse after a bowel movement and when I wait too long to go to wee

It’s awful to be back to wearing pads day and night , the sweating is a little more bearable but my GP now says wait 6 months to see if the conti duet will kick in

While trying to find out why I was sweating ….

I had my gallbladder as an ultrasound found a 9cm chronically morbid polyp , at the same time they found a problem with my pancreas which following an mrcp showed I have IPMN cysts in my pancreatic ducts and a a legion on my liver but the consultant said not to worry about those they will scan annually and he will deal with them of any changes or leakage is detected

The sweating went away when i first started conti duo but is now back.

I just don’t understand how you can be period free for 8 years and have no symptoms whatsoever then when given a HRT pill , you start to bleed and why is it worse when I wee and poo ?

I’d rather stop taking it and see if the bleeding stops but IM not sure if it’s safe to do that

Your advice is appreciated. Thankyou

:welcomemm: it doesn't seem as though the various health conditions have been 'joined up' as such.

R U getting follow up appts with any of the specialists for your different problems?

Have the sweats been eased at all?  To have break through bleeding: which can take a few months B4 it settles, apparently : must feel like going backwards!  Who did the dip stick and why?  Blood traces are common.  If an infection is suspected then a sample should go to a Lab for growing.

Hopefully some1 with knowledge about what aggravates fibroids will be along.

Some find that keeping a mood/food/symptom diary of use too.

Morning CLKD

Thanks so much  for taking time to read and advise 🌹

The sweats were better to start with but they are back

I’ve edited my original post to explain more about the urine dips

I have taken photos of the dip tests and also kept a diary of the bleeding and sweating

I have repeatedly asked to be taken of the HRT as I survived for 8 years without it but the GP keeps upping the timescales.

I feel like I keep going back re the sweating and they find something else that detracts from my main issue.

I did have fibroids removed many years ago but I read somewhere that you shouldn’t take conti duo if you have them ? It’s been years since they were removed

I appreciate you taking the time out to support THANKYOU

Hi you may be better trying one of the body identical hrts…. Oestrogen in a patch or gel and a micronised progesterone ( usually Utrogestan).

The progesterone in Elleste Duet Conti is norethisterone which is a synthetic progesterone and some ladies don’t get on with it.

Thanks Dotty , we tried patches first but they fell off due to the sweating. We even tried securing them with surgical tape

Have you tried Oestrogel?

Or you could take an oestrogen tablet and a separate micronised progesterone .

Different brands of patch use different glue. I had trouble getting evorel patches to stick but no problem with estradot. If your flushes ate no longer under control an increase in oestrogen would help. If you've had a recent scan that shows no obvious cause for the bleeding then you need to increase the amount if progestogen you take. A separate oestrogen and progestogen would make this possible. Oestrogen can make fibroids grow so if they've returned they could be the cause if yhe bleeding. It isn't dangerous to stop hrt if you decide it isn't for you but imo better to stay on it for the long term bone and heart benefits and try to find something that suits you better. If you go the the Treatments tab from the menu you can see what's available.
