Hi Buffy26

Just a thought but, what happened to me was, I had all my symptoms back along with so much more when I was on four pumps. Omg, I was suffering!
So decided to stop all hrt for the weekend, ( it was my 3 days off utro anyway) just to see what happened.
By the Monday I was so down and flat I decided to put just 2 pumps on, and it worked.
I was on far too much gel, and it was making me feel so poorly.
I’ve felt my old self again, had energy, happy, sleep great, and feel good.
I’m glad to say aswell, my boobs have deflated, they were so sore and swollen, and my general bloatedness has disappeared too.
Just thought I’d share. xx
That is interesting Jillydoll, thank you for sharing! Something to consider for sure. My last two blood results showed up as 320 whilst on 4 pumps, GP said thats an acceptable level and I shouldnt increase it. I have struggled with absorbing patches and gel, my skin is really dry and I have wondered if I could apply it somewhere other than thighs and arms, maybe on the buttock area.  I have not had any symptoms of hard boobs or bloating. My sleep was terrible, in the end out of desperation the GP allowed me to go on 10mg of amytriptilne and that has worked. I was wondering if it could be that causing night sweats as only had occasional sweats before going on that, now its every single night. My bed clothes and PJs are damp from neck to feet, I dont drip in sweat i just rise in the morning with very damp everthing. The meno doc I saw privately last year said my ultimate readings should be over 500. Really not sure what I should do now. I did feel more comfortable seeing that doc, but it was getting ridiculous in cost and when a meno GP came to our surgery I decided to switch. What a roller coaster it all is

Hi Dotty
I started this regime 11th jan.
she told me to start on 3 pumps. After two weeks or so I was still night sweating, so because she said to tweak it and go to 4 if I wanted too, I did.
Felt awful on and off for weeks, until last weekend when I felt utterly terrible so decided to stop altogether.
Obviously my levels dropped over the weekend, so I started again last Monday. On just 2.
Been good ever since. ( touch wood) 🌳

Hia Jillydoll,

Thanks for your post.

I like the idea of lowering gel as opposed to upping. If my increase from 6 to 7 pumps in this past week doesn't pan out after a good month or so, heck I might even try it myself. It seems like we are all shooting in the dark these days, it's like the Wild West out here. That's unless you have an outstanding GP or very deep pockets to pay for a specialist.

I've got everything crossed for you that 2 pumps is your sweet spot. Though a week on new lower dose is probably too soon to call it I reckon.
Please keep us posted on this thread if you have any more to add on this in coming weeks.

A friend of mine was on 6 pumps of gel….it stopped working. She changed to 125 patch….worked for a while and then stopped.  She changed to a 2mg tablet and hey presto….it worked. She wasn’t absorbing from transdermal.

Cool!

Aren't the tablets more risky as far as blood clots, and stroke etc? Also heard they cause tummy/gastro issues as going through the gut so less gets absorbed into the system meaning needing higher doses as well? I may be wrong though, that does happen  :D

No issues….

(For which I am truly grateful as I did have problems with the whole green/amber square issue)

(Keeping my fingers crossed as I post as I do not want to jinx myself!)  ;)

 (1) "YES issues"

 (2) Return of menopause symptoms - night sweats, chevron migraine/headache, abdominal pain

 (3) Switched from Oestrogel to Sandrena 5 months ago and no longer have any symptoms.

Long time using HRT (25 years now) have used various over the years, so know from experience quite quickly if something suits me or not.  Switched from Cyclo-Progynova 2mg about a year ago due to it being discontinued to 1x 100mg Utrogestan and 4 pumps of Oestrogel daily/no break.  Worked perfectly well till circa 5 months ago, when the Oestrogel bottles changed and it had a different coloured top and gel seemed more liquidy - symptoms returned with a vengeance, final crux was the chevron migraine - back to the Drs and changed to Sandrena immediately.  Initial trial and error working out a suitable dose, however I seem to have settled on 1x 100mg Utrogestan and 2x 1mg Sandrena each day - take the Sandrena in the morning and Utrogestan in the evening.

Hope this helps 👍😀

Adding that I have formally reported to Drs, Besins and MHRA and submitted yellow form and returned bottles back to them.   Besins have added my name to a growing list and the last I heard was 2 weeks ago when they asked to contact my Drs.  There is another thread in here re Oestrogel faulty bottles which has useful guidance. 👍

Thanks gals,

It seems a pretty even response with half No and half Yes.

Not sure what we have learned from it, as I said before it wasn't going to be conclusive.

My increase from 6 to 7 pumps started a few days ago, already seems to be showing good signs of working to alleviate symptoms.
