Testosterone reading 4.6. Application site influence??
« on: April 06, 2024, 04:58:03 PM »

Hi ladies it's been a while. 3 months to be precise, since I persuaded my gp to add testosterone to my hrt. My bloods this week showed a T reading of 4.6 and my gp has told me to stop using it until we speak later this month for a review. Here's the thing... to avoid hair growth (which I was getting on my tummy) I started putting it on my wrists as others on here have done. Now I'm wondering if that's the reason for such a high test result. Thoughts? (BTW my mojo and big O are still not back  :'(  )

Hi
I put testn on my arms (higher than wrists but also higher than blood draws) for a while - until I had a few blood tests (repeated as they were too high) and everyone got incredibly worked up and then said I should not have been putting it on my arms (to be clear one of the pvt GP meno 'specialists' had told me to do that).  So yes it coudl well be contamination.
Ask your GP for a repeat, give your wrists a good wash, maybe start putting it somewhere else in the meantime, and (the actual specialist consultant I now see) says don't put it on anyway the morning of the test.
Also, even if that is a true reading the advice should probably be to reduce your dosing (less every day, not alternate days) rather than stop completely - that could cause other issues!  My readings were higher than that and I was just told to reduce amount.
but I'm not a doctor and there are others here more knowledgeable than I.
Good luck! xx
