Foggy or Anxious - you decide
« on: March 06, 2024, 12:40:12 PM »

I’m 39, suspected peri (hot sweats, night sweats and anxiety).

I’m inbetween 3-4 pumps of gel (which makes me anxious and have adrenaline surges)

Or

75mg Evorel patch (which eases anxiety but makes me extremely foggy and tired).

I have no idea what to do!
Any guidance?

Hi! which pumps have U been prescribed and did U begin on a low dose to work up ?  What R your own periods up to, as your hormones may well interfere with HRT.

I hate that foggy hung-over feeling .......

Perimenopause are the years where hormones levels change and we begin to notice symptoms: this can go on for several years until the last bleed - menopause.  However, we are advised to count 12 months after the last period as Mother Nature can throw in the curved ball, meaning that we have to begin counting again  ::)

Hi sweety,

Still having regular periods.
Started on 50mcg Evorel patch (then started having night sweats again).

The gel is Oestrogel - makes me feel wired, over excited and I feel the adrenaline rush.
Today I’ve tried a 75mg Evorel patch (again). Foggy but less anxious

MayB put the product names into the search box: separately : and read the threads that pop up.  Make notes ;-)

Hi

I would go with the foggy because anxiety is the worse symptom for me.  How long have you been on the patches?  It might just be your body getting used to it and will get better.  When I was increasing my patches I wouldn't go up a full 25 in one go.  I went from 25 to 50 patches but cut off a quarter until I felt ok with it (So effectively cutting off 12.5).  I did this every time I increased and now I'm on 100 patches.  I know some people think that cutting the patches isn't ok but my meno specialist said this was fine and it worked for me xx

I would stick with the gel but reduce the dose. Anxiety and particularly feeling wired can be a symptom of too much oestrogen. Also it may be that you absorb it better than from the patch so your body may be getting more than you expect. If it was me I'd start with 2 pumps gel and increase only if you need to.
