Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone knows what the recommendations are for taking utrogestan every day as in the 2 capsules.
I've been advised to take my utragestan daily without a break as the oestrogen was triggering constant migraines.  I only take 1 capsule as opposed to the two but I've been on a higher dose of oestrogen for 6 months and for two weeks of my cycle I'm going slightly crazy. Extreme anxiety, irratibilty, insomnia. I've had a little tweak and upped my progesterone to 2 capsules and it sorts everything out.  The thing is I have a feeling my gp will tell me to not do this as its bad in some sort of way.
Just wondered if anyone was taking 2 capsules of progesterone every day and this was OK.

Yes, I take 2 utro daily continuously. I'm also on 100 evorel patch. Was prescribed 1 x 100 utro per day but increased to 2 after a couple of months to try and stop breakthrough bleeding. So far so good, although it took a little while. BMS guidelines are 2 x utro per day continuously if on a high dose of oestrogen. I increased without informing my gp because like you, I thought he would say no but he's not really got much clue when it comes to hrt. I get most of my information here and through the BMS guidelines.

Ah that's great thank you.  Because I've been taking two a day I ran out before I was due my repeat so got a hrt review next week so I'm hoping he's going to say it's OK other wise I won't be prescribed enough.

I’ve also  been on 200 daily for ages, on a (very) high dose on Oestr, under specialist so pretty sure it’s ok.
 My Gp is also clueless but does do what specialist says. I think specialist mentioned the bms did guidance for GPs on this so you cd take that along? But if he’s giving you 100 patches (which I think are defined as high) he should Co-operate if you point out you / he need to manage the risks of that, incl w increased prog. Good luck!

Yeah, I will run out too before my next scheduled repeat & also have a review in April before I can get anymore. I'm hoping he'll be ok, will just explain I feel much more stable and bleeding has stopped so no reason not to. Tbh, he sounds like he just can't wait to get me off the phone & has always prescribed pretty much what I've asked for. Don't think he deals with mad, peri-meno women very well!! 😂
