Online blood test for Testosterone levels- anyone ???
« on: January 24, 2024, 02:03:21 PM »

Hi, I've been on HRT for over 2 years but in the last 6 months I've had nearly zero sex drive and  find  it hard to climax ( TMI )
I'm thinking I'd like to try Testosterone alongside my regime. Its hard to get a GP appointment to discuss and even if I did don't know if I'd get it.
I've looked at the Newson clinic but it's expensive. There are online companies like Medicheck  or Superdrug who will test  Testosterone levels for you with a pin **** home test and if appropriate  sell you the required   product.Has anyone done this ??

What? It looks like we are all heading towards DIY health service!..?

I would not bother testing. ..nor with GP. .. just find the nearest Menopause Clinic and book an appointment there!

Best!🤗

Hello Orba.

Several ladies have obtained testosterone from their GPs in order to improve their libido so that is definitely worth a try. I believe that Drs prescribe Testogel or Tostram but I am sure other ladies will be along to offer advice.

I have used the Newson Health clinic and they do favour using testosterone as part of HRT. They offer Androfeme which is an Australian product but they like to know that you have sufficient oestrogen before prescribing. Apparently if oestrogen is low testosterone is converted into oestrogen and the benefits of added testosterone are lost.

Hopefully you will find the right regime soon

Take care.

Some GPs will prescribe it and some like my GP say she couldn't possibly do that without a specialist's say so.
If you want it, then start asking as many different GPs in the practice as possible until you find one who prescribes testosterone. It might take a couple of weeks to get a yes from someone, but it's the only way unless you go private

Orba, I used Randox for female hormones and testosterone.  Had my bloods done by my Gp, too.  The results we pretty much the same.  But I guess the home kit gives you a place to start from.  I had to fight to get testosterone.  My Gp referred me to the menopause clinic, and they agreed it would be good to try.  Stick to you're guns and keep asking for it.

Thanks. It's near impossible to get a GP appointment at my practice and when you do it's whoever is available so luck of the draw I suppose. I'm not desperate so I can take my time with it. This menopause prescription lark is such a lottery !

Not sure if this will be helpful but I have found a reputable pharmacy online that will prescribe Testogel. It's just a very simple questionnaire that you have to complete. My Testogel arrived the next day.

I have been getting my Testogel on repeat prescription from my GP practice since 2017, but they're making it increasingly difficult. They make me jump through so many hoops, blood tests, on line questionnaires and phone consultations.

One pump pack of Testogel lasts me roughly 14 months. But the practice automatically removes a medication from your repeat script if it hasn't been ordered in 12 months.

So every bloody year I have to reapply and go through the whole process to get it. Such a massive waste of time and NHS resources.

And yet my poor friend cannot seem to get a meds review for love nor money at the same practice - probably because they're obsessed with my meds!

So, I've given up. Very happy to pay £40 for Testogel which arrives within 24 hours and with zero hassle.
