Advice needed on hrt at 69
« on: February 06, 2024, 07:19:17 PM »

I've been on half tablet of kliovance for several years. Since November last year I have been quite unwell with no diagnosis. I come over very nauseous, tired, can't do much of anything, shaky, dry mouth. I occasionally get a day when I don't feel so bad but the next day I'm back to square one. I've had some blood tests done which were evidently ok. I'm now thinking is it the hrt suddenly making me feel so ill after taking it for so many years, maybe I should cut down to half every other day? Or is it that I'm not getting enough and I should increase to a whole tablet? I am at my wits end, so sick of feeling sick. Also light headed and dizzy. Feel like I've gone from a fairly healthy 69 year old to a disabled weak person.Probably clutching at straws and it's nothing to do with the hrt. Doctor doesn't seem to care and I feel if I keep contacting them they will think I'm a hypochondriac. I don't suppose anyone out there has experienced anything like this?

Naausea is awful.  How did U feel during your menstruating years?  I had it in the days prior to a period.  Also my bowels would play up, 10 mins B4 a bleed I would have to dash: even if a period wasn't due.  Hormones can certainly cause upheaval!

Why did you begin with Kliovance?  It mayB that you no longer require a replacement or that you need more/less.

I would ask your GP for a referral to a dedicate menopause clinic as there are waiting lists, you may find that your hospital runs one.  It may be noted on their websites.

If U can afford to: though we shouldn't have to pay for advice: perhaps seek an appt with Dr Newson or a similar private clinic.

How is your diet overall?  Sometimes as we age we need to over view what we eat.  I've had to alter my diet drastically but gradually in the last 2 years, cutting out as much processed foods as possible. i.e. shop bought cakes, biscuits .......... because the hidden sugars have a dreadful effect on my gut transit.

It's possible they're meno symptoms. You could try increasing and see if it helps.

Hi I agree with sheila99 that it sounds like you need more oestrogen.

Hello Fultime  :welcomemm: & sorry to hear you are having horrible symptoms to deal with.  I wouldn't rule out an HRT issue as cause, but I'm also thinking along same lines as CLKD re diet, wondering whether your blood sugar could be falling too low at times because of what you say here?

Thanks. I may try increasing back to whole tablet, bit nervous incase it makes me worse as I feel like I am in a nightmare at the moment. Got yet another doctor appointment today my husband is coming with me, he's very worried too. I've lost weight without trying over the past few months too, lately I haven't had any appetite and have forced myself to eat something because I don't want to lose any more weight, I've gone from 10st 2lb in August to 8st 10lb now and I look awful. My poor husband is having to look after himself half the time which he's never had to do, and is out doing the shopping at the moment. I'm worried about the effect this is all having on both of us. Thank you again for the suggestions.

Similar here! 68.5 now. During last year, one issue after another, from bad to worse..now a chest surgery looming..
Thought of HRT not being right but who will know? Could it be long covid? I don't know. Pre pandemic I was fine.
I don't want any more experiments so am sticking with (Evorel conti + testogel), but have no clue if they are doing me any good at all this stage..

Long covid: symptoms which persist for more than 12 weeks ......... that's 3 months.

Had it Jan 23.. now my spine collapse, osteopenia plus scoliosis, new benign tumour on my back, one inside my chest..iffy. Two weeks ago at A&E with half face swollen, three days after finishing antibiotics for ..sinuses..or ..? god knows..waiting for scan.  Now, lower legs going crazy from circulation problems, .feet going numb, .what else?.. eczema on scalp and in ears,.. aha! f.. corn on one foot! Earlier severe bladder infection that got me on Friday night on holiday weekend.. Spring, eye infection..My hair falling out ..Energy next to none!
Good diet, gaining weight on next to nothing.. Blood pressure perfect, blood tests fine.
If it's cancer I am thinking of letting it be.. It's getting too much, and it only started..
