Sertraline and work on HRT
« on: December 13, 2023, 06:21:33 PM »

Hi All, I’m perimenopausal 47, and on Evorel 75 with uterogestan PV days 15-26.  I’ve had PMDD for many years and tried ADs a few times.
I’m having terrible depression on the uterogestan days and five days after. Can’t function, crying mess.  I’m about to restart Sertraline 25mg days 15-28.
My question is what is your experience of starting an AD and holding down your job? Last time I was a total space cadet and I worked on an ICU which was not a good look. I’m so scared of restarting and messing up my job but also scared of falling back in to the pit again… any words of advice or insight would really help thanks!

Hi,

I hope I'm not being too irritating by not really answering your question.

I, like some others, really struggle with utrogestan. I did find I had less side effects taking in internally. I was told by meno specialist that I could take 1 tablet vaginally for 12 days rather than 2 tablets orally.

My daughter is on sertraline (now on 50, started on 25) and apart from some initial nausea is doing really well on it. I didn't know it could be used sequentially,  but please let us know how you get on x

Slightly similar situation in that my GP initially prescribed a different AD to be used specifically only in the run up my periods due to horrible PMDD
symptoms.
But for me it was so successful and helped me sleep that with her consent I use it every day of the month, albeit half the dose originally prescribed. So I think it can be used for cyclical moods, in those days of the month only. That was news to me too but makes sense.
