Weight gain
« on: December 11, 2023, 11:52:09 AM »

Hi everyone,

I am currently taking oestrogel, two pumps, and utrogestan, I switched from evorel as my levels were still quite low, it looked like I wasn’t absorbing. I have put on over half a stone. Has anyone experienced this? This happened while on the tablets. When I went off them I lost all the weight again. I’m not doing anything different in regard to eating more and moving less. Feeling so bloated and my mood swings are awful.

Hi Elaine,

How long have you been taking it? I’ve been on it for a few months now. I’ve tried pills, not good. Then patches, evorel and a giant one that kept falling off which I can’t remember the name off. I haven’t tried estradot. If anyone has please advise if it’s any better??

Hi, I've been on it 10 months. (Plus testogel 6 months), I thought I would get used to it if I persevered long enough, but can't seem to get it right.

I use the gel too (4 pumps daily) and have put a few lbs on since i increased my dose. My mood swings are horrendous too, one minute irritionally angry the next crying and sobbing. My Dr told me i need to give it time, but ive been on it 3 months, granted i only went to 4 pumps last week - but she said i would be evening out soon and its not happening.

I f***ing hate being on this medication, in facr, if it doesnt get any better im coming off altogether

Hi Peanut,

Sorry to hear you are having such a crap time. Maybe four pumps might work out better for you. It’s hard taking a medication that’s not helping. I’m only persevering as I need the medication more for bone health. It helps with the morning blues. But I’m up and down, tears and rage every other time. I’m always tired too.
Elaine, I’m in the same boat I can’t get it right either. Been on this journey for nearly three years now. Started HRT at 42!
