Estring advice
« on: December 10, 2023, 08:09:47 PM »

Hi

I am just wondering if anyone on here uses the estring for Atrophy?
I am due to start using it but also need to use vaginal moisturiser every day. Am I ok to use an internal moisturiser whilst the estring is in does anyone know? I'm assuming it won't affect it but just wondered if anyone had any experience of this.

Thank you

Kirsti

Morning.  MayB put the product name into the search box, I am sure that there are 'threads' here ;-).  Do U have a box with a leaflet in for advice?

Hi CKLD and Postmeno3!

Thanks for responding.

Yes I was planning on trying vagifem alongside the estring as I have been told to use Vagifem daily by a specialist. I've been doing this since Feb and using some Ovestin on the outer areas a few times a week, still in lots of pain and discomfort so I have asked to add in the estring to try and help oestrogen take up.

I use yes ob, olive and b moisturisers, I can't use anything water based as it hurts too much. I use the yes ob internally so was hoping I can still use it whilst on the estring.

Thanks for your feedback on this Postmeno3!, have you found the estring has helped?

Hi Postmeno3!

I am having a really rough time of it with VA, I think it is quite severe.
I have been advised to try the estring by a Menopause Specialist so it should be ok.
I am on systemic HRT, have been on it for a year. I was on Oestrogel but the new bottle version wasn't working for me so I have been changed to Lenzetto, again by a Menopause specialist. It's not going so great so far but it is early days, and I think I will need to increase my dose. Either that or I will need to try the other gel Sandrena or a patch. She wanted to put me on Estradot but I believe there are supply issues for that patch currently.

Unfortunately it looks like I have started all this a bit too late for my symptoms so we are just trying to minimise the affects now.
I have been on Vagifem since 2019 but only x 2 a week which i don't think had been enough but no-one realised. I use Vagifem every night and Ovestin every other night around the outside but still in constant pain and discomfort unfortunately.
I need the moisturisers too but may need to keep them to the outside whilst using the estring then.

Thanks for your help, and glad the estring has been good for you. I have heard it has helped ladies with quite bad VA so am hopeful, and yes CKLD I will keep you updated with progress, fingers crossed it helps.

Thanks Postmeno3!

Yes I have looked at a lot of info on here re VA which has been very helpful, and read 'My Menopausal Vagina'.
The Lenzetto does seem to be quite weak, I am on 4 sprays though and can move up, it may be my system taking a while to get used to it which is the frustrating bit isn't it. Hopefully I will get some help this week from the GP and the specialist.

Thanks for your support.
