Private question passed on from my husband
« on: December 07, 2023, 12:50:14 PM »

Hi, I take vaginal oestrogen about 2 or 3 times a week and my husband is worried because it's oestrogen and what happens to him if he ingests it or absorbs it into his bits during marital fun and games?
He can taste the difference and doesn't like it!
There is nothing about it at all in the patient leaflet, in fact most of the patient leaflet is like a generic leaflet for all HRT.

You have to scroll down to 'precautions' then 'vaginal use'. Good question from Mr pastie supper  :)

My husband worried that  he was going to grow breasts. I told him he was being ridiculous as surely there would be warnings in the leaflets of topical estrogen. I did ask GP, she had a giggle and said it was a common worry but I could reassure him that he won't be needing to purchase a bra ;D

I was told to use it after sex or leave it a few hours after inserting the cream. It is however a very small amount of estrogen it is equivalent to taking one 2mg tablet over the course of a year. x

Thank you all!
Taz, that's a great link, I'll look around there for info on my other meds too.
I can reassure him it's probably ok, lol.
It's the part of being young we're determined not to lose!
I'll try to remember to insert it right after intimacy, then given my husband's age it's going to be a day or so
That should be fine, except I think I tend to want it more a few hours after inserting one, but that's ok, I'll survive  ;D

Although very relevant question it did make me laugh. My husband asked the same , and my gp said to use it post sex instead. He also doesn't like the taste of Sylk or Yes, but he needs to get on with it - no VA treatment would mean no sex.... Umm, if he thinks I have been moody in the past then just see how I am mood wise if that happened.  ;)
And a point to Mr Pastie for taking an interest in your hormonal life.
