New symptoms- any suggestions are welcome thanks
« on: November 28, 2023, 09:44:19 AM »

Hi Ladies,

i am taking Femosten HRT and having been "jogging" along on this for a number of years. I  always had aches on day 23 ( no idea why). That appears to have reduced. Now I feel dreadful on day 6 to 10 - basically a few days after starting the estrogen only. I feel nauseous, my body aches like the flu, I feel dizzy, my heart rate goes up  and i feel  quite unwell. I can't do anything , as I feel so dreadful. This has been going on for several months . Is it the progesterone withdrawal?  Why would it just start to happen?  Would it be because i have marginally increased my estrogen 8 months ago? Any suggestions or ideas would be much appreciated .

It may be your recent increase, it may be that your own progesterone (if you haven’t had a hyst) has lowered and you now have too much unopposed oestrogen. Have you tried having progesterone all the way through?
I often struggle as my oestrogen is rising on those days. Always have.

Hi Scampidoodle , thanks for replying .

I haven't tried progesterone continually, but I am concidering it. Only problem is that my HRT estrogen dose would have to be lowered if I took my current type. Unless I took the low dose and the ultra low dose together . Not sure if the NHS would agree with that. My symptoms appear to be getting worse. That and constipation and diarehha . The delights of menopause are seriously getting me down at the moment. I feel constantly ill. I am lucky if I get a week of feeling anywhere near normal in a month. I am terrified of any changes and my GP is useless.

Hiya - it’s worth considering trying the continuous utrogestan. My GP is utterly useless too. That’s why we’re all on here!

Why would you have to lower your oestrogen dose if you went into continuous? X

pepperminty, it might be worth taking Femoston conti ultra low and topping it up with one pump of Oestrogel every day.  I'm pretty sure someone else on here did that successfully and I did it with Angeliq several years ago.

It sounds like you would feel better on a continuous combined regime and you obviously get on well with dydrogesterone so it's worth trying to stick with that and tweak the dose.

You would need to have regular uterine scans.

Hi,
I take an extra half a tablet of the estrogen per day which brings me half way to Femosten 2/10 dose. At the moment I feel quite poorley. I am suffereing quite badly at the moment and it always seems to be worse on the estrogen part. A year ago that was when i felt good!  Menopause is defeating me at the moment and impacting on every part of my life and work.  I am normally upbeat, but when you have been awake with severe nausea and racing heart in the middle of the night, it takes it out of you.  Funny thing is I am not that stressed out about anything, this is purely physical- which in turn is making me worrying - not the other way round if you see what I mean.

Thanks for the reply,  that is an idea. I can't go on like this at all. I have a menopause appointment in December with the NHS specialist clinic and will discuss it then.
I did think that I could take 1/10 continuous and 1/5 continuous togther which would bring me to my current level that i have  on the sequi regime. Alhough I am willing to take utrogestan at some point but I am worried I will  get worse if i change completely and I will loose my job,  I don't know if it will suit me. I am the wrong side of mid fifties and happy to use tablets for a while longer.
I have also developed a severe heat intolerance and while that is great to save on heating -in the sumer I can't go out without severe nauseau and feeling incredibly ill if the temp is above 22c  I have to lie down.  I am not sure if that is menopause or something else. Although my GP is blaming everything I have on menopause .
