Have you had it diagnosed by a Dr? I use vagifem for mine but you can go to a pharmacy and buy Gina but I think it's pricey

Yes I was diagnosed with V A about a year ago and I use Vagifem tablet which has help I am just having a flare up at the moment, all my GP keeps saying it will settle down, they have given me some steroid cream
But the burning sensation is awful

Disappointing that its not working that great for you. Have you tried Ovestin to apply topically on the outside, sometimes Vagifem alone is not enough and doesn't reach the outside area.
After a year the burning feeling shouldn't be so intense even with a flare up. Flare ups are common and don't last long and as for a pain killer I don't think there is one that is effective. I can only suggest the added Ovestin that might help.

Have you any other symptoms, thrush can have the burning feeling too. I had thrush for weeks before I realised it wasn't an atrophy flare up. Can you ask for a swab test?

I was given Lidocaine cream once, I was so sore externally. It just makes everything numb. It's an anesthetic on prescription or OTC.
