Lenzetto headaches
« on: November 25, 2023, 12:26:05 PM »

Hi all

Happy Saturday everyone.

I've been using the Lenzetto spray for 2 weeks.

Beforehand, I was using 1mg of Sandrena gel a day with vaginal utrogestan for 12 days. This was causing such bad PMS, lasting weeks as my natural cycle kept over-riding the HRT cycle, and it would often be more than 2 weeks before I had a withdrawal bleed, and my anxiety was so debilitating I would often cry all day.

My Dr, who also works at a menopause clinic, has put me on continuous HRT, and changed the Sandrena to 2 sprays of Lenzetto a day, as she thought I wasn't absorbing the Sandrena gel well . I started off on 1 spray a day, then moved to 2 after 10 days, as I was having terrible headaches, which I put down to halving my oestrogen dose.

However, after 5 days on 2 sprays I am still having headaches, though less bad than before. I feel much better mentally, and sharper, and less anxious, all of which is positive. My histamine intolerance also seems much better.

Is this is a side effect of Lenzetto? Will it pass as my body gets used to it or is it a basic intolerance? Does low oestrogen cause headaches or too much? Like many on here I'm still navigating HRT and haven't found the perfect solution, just half solutions which seem to clear up some symptoms while causing others.

Any information or advice from anyone who has experienced Lenzetto, or understands low vs high oestrogen symptoms would be gratefully received.

Hi - so sorry to hear you are suffering.  I was put on Lenzetto when Oestrogel became unavailable due to the shortages.  I found it very easy to use but unfortunately I was unable to get the dose right as 2 sprays were too much for me and one spray not enough.  I did try taping the entrance of the device to try and do half a dose but it really did not work well.  In the end the Meno consultant swopped me onto Estradot patches.  It so  is that one thing suits one person yet not another with HRT and it's finding what suits you the best which can be so frustrating at times.  I have read that Lenzetto is not as potent as some of the other types of HRT.  I was also told that after changing HRT it does take about 3 months to work and for the body to settle down .  I do hope things sort for you. x

Hi Greyhoundgal

I hope you don't mind me jumping in on this thread.
Are you still using the Lenzetto, did you find it started to settle down for you?

I have been prescribed it but currently struggling as I feel it is very week.
I was on Oestrogel but the new bottle version wasn't working for me and I have been moved to Lenzetto by a specialist.
I found the Oestrogel really helped with my dry mouth and generally I felt quite good on it, if a little high at times (i.e. I didn't really feel like myself, I felt too 'ok' if that makes sense, however maybe that is how I should have been feeling all my life and have never managed it due to hormone issues, who knows). I did however have anxiety dips on it and sometimes ended up constantly crying and feeling very low, so I think my body was struggling with it.
On the Lenzetto my mouth is ok but nowhere near as good as it was on the gel, I feel more myself but then worry that I'm not taking up enough estrogen or maybe that my dose is too low. I also had a bad headache when I first tried it but that did subside. At the weekend I had a very depressive episode and was quite scared by this, I also have really ramped up VA pain which is my biggest problem and it just felt like the world was falling apart. Oh and nausea! Terrible nausea which I am hoping will go once my body gets used to it. I am due to see my GP tomorrow and have a telephone call with a specialist on Thursday so we will see what they say.
I was wondering if you have persevered with it and had any improvement?
I hope you are ok and yes it is a nightmare trying to find the HRT that works best for us, it is a difficult journey so I am thinking of you and hope things have improved.

I’m on lenzetto and had the odd bad headache. In fact I started a new spray last week and within a day had a 2/3 day headache.
I think it does settle - I have far less headaches than I did when on sequi patches. Mirena and Lenzetto definitely better as progesterone is constant.

I’m on one spray but considering two as night sweats have returned for a few days a month, which must be when oestrogen drops sooo low. Also brain fog worse at different stages of the month.

If I up to 2 sprays I know I’ll probably get a few bad headaches on the trot as body adjusts to the new normal…
