Author Topic: Testosterone dropped to pre-treatment levels after 18 weeks of Androfeme, WTH?  (Read 459 times)

Ladies, I feel like I’ve just wasted a lot of money on Androfeme.

I started treatment at the end of June. After six weeks my testosterone levels had started to increase from baseline. At the fifteen week mark my levels had dropped very slightly. My menopause specialist said this was unusual and asked me to increase my dose from 0.5ml to 1ml. I posted about this recently as I was a bit scared to increase my dose. I increased to 0.6ml for a week and had another blood test on Tuesday as I wanted to be certain my levels were still within the female range before increasing to 1ml.

I’ve just got my results back and am at a complete loss - my total testosterone and free androgen index have dropped right back to where they were at baseline! Each tube of Androfeme lasts three months and I am starting to wonder if my second tube is a bad batch?

My test results are:

Pre-treatment
Testosterone: 0.58 nmol/L
Sex Hormone Binding Globulin: 97 nmol/L
Free Androgen Index: 0.6%

Six weeks of treatment
Testosterone:  1.14 nmol/L
SHBG: 96.8 nmol/L
FAI: 1.2%

Fifteen weeks of treatment
Testosterone:  1.02nmol/L
SHBG:  95 nmol/L
FAI: 1.1%

Eighteen weeks of treatment
Testosterone:  0.57 nmol/L
SHBG:  89.3 nmol/L
FAI: 0.6%
Oestradiol: 157 pmol/L
FSH: 32.4 IU/L
LH: 25.3 IU/L

I’m using 50mcg patches and was late changing my patch for the first time since starting HRT - typical! 🙄 I should have changed it the night before the blood test and only realised on my way to the appointment! Could this account for the slightly low Oestradiol result (I’m still in peri and fluctuating all over the place!)?

Have you changed where or how you're applying the gel at all? Different parts of the body may absorb differently.

Hi WildOtter,
Nothing’s changed at all. Applying to upper/outer thighs as per the instructions, clean, dry skin, no lotions, etc. I’m totally confused!
