Has anyone heard of the BUPA menopause plan? You pay £300 for a 45 minute and follow up 30 minute appointment with a GP specialist in menopause. You fill out a questionnaire, and get a tailored menopause plan based on your answers and consultations. You also have access to a specialist nurse whenever you want for a year.

Has anyone done this? If so what did you think? Was it worth it? It takes 3 weeks to get a GP appointment at my surgery, and I'm getting seriously fed up with debilitating anxiety and hideous PMS symptoms between HRT withdrawal bleeds. And no real solutions.

I would probably think that the fee is 'about right'.  If in trouble and needing proper advice, I wouldn't hesitate to get an appt., taking a list of what bothers me the most. 

I wonder how experienced the GP might be .........  will U give it a try?

I've just had a look at it in more detail and it looks very good.  I would say if you can afford it, definitely go for it. 

The 24/7 support service looks good and you will not be fighting with a hopeless doctor who knows virtually nothing about HRT.

I paid about that for a private consult a few years back, that actually came to nothing in the end so was a bit wasted - so I'd say cost looks in the expected ball park and sounds like you access to better info than I did, so definitl;y worth a try.

I think the access to a specialist nurse for a year bit sounds great. When I saw a private meno GP last year it was 275 for a 30 minute appointment and two follow up emails. Something ongoing would be great as it seems rare that hrt is a quick / easy fix and it seems like lots of tweaking is required. Would be great to have specialist advice ongoing.

Hello. I used the BUPA plan last year to be diagnosed as perimenopausal as my own GPs were insistent I was ‘too young’ (despite having over 25 symptoms)

I spoke to a doctor trained in woman’s health. He was wonderful. Actually listened to me.  Diagnosed me, prescribed hrt and wrote to my own GP’s.

As annoying as it was that I had to pay to be diagnosed it was life saving at the time. X
