If only! No, unfortunately it was the opposite for me. Came off patches and lost the 8lb I'd put on.  :-\

I've put on steadily since starting hrt too. Nearly a stone. I was underweight before though, so that is fine for me but I am getting to the point where I need to cut back a bit. I lost loads of weight in peri due to how bad my anxiety wad, I simply couldn't eat enough.

Hi

Yes, I've been on HRT for about 16 months and I've lost about a stone.

Yes, I have a new meno specialist and was recently weighed at the hospital.  I lost weight while on continuous MHT, oral estrogen and micronized progesterone.  I'm now 116 lbs.  BMI is 24.2.  I'm short with full thighs and bottom and defined waist.  At 59, I'm softer around the waist, but not thick.  My weight was highest in early to mid peri and dropped and stabilized in late peri and post meno.  Significant changes to diet to address inflammation and other peri symptoms likely stabilized weight and kept it off my middle.

I had a larger waistline in early to mid peri.  Most of my clothes from that era were too big to be altered and had to be discarded.  But I was able to wear very old clothes and belts from my 30s.  So if you're in peri, hang on to your favourite outfits.  You may be able to wear them again.

I'm now on sequential transdermal estrogen (Estrogel) and micronized progesterone (Prometrium).  I've only been on it for a month and a bit, so we'll see how it goes.

I put on sooo much weight when first had a hysterectomy and started HRT I was actually huge.. but now I'm smaller than I was before I had the op... My shape has changed though.. and I've still got large breasts and bum... My eating habits are awful and normally if I eat like this I put weight on... I just read so much about wright gain in menopause that I wasn't sure if this was related. I'm no where near under weight or anything so I'm.not concerned . Just wasn't sure if it was all related or not.

I attended a talk recently given by a highly regarded dietician who specialises in women's health. Although it was focused on women in sport, she made the point that the body does not use fat stores to convert to energy without having estrogen to facilitate that process. Many women in peri/post meno who train hard, try to cut calories to keep the weight off/reduce weight, but that can lead to an energy deficit (REDS) which can then have similar symptoms to menopause.  All very interesting and quite complex.... For anyone wanting to look her up, she's Renee McGregor, and has several podcasts and books.
In my case I have made a very small change to my diet, but in the time I've been back on low dose HRT I have also lost about half a stone in 2 - 3 months without really making any special effort.

I lost weight but I think it's more because I got more exercise. In untreated peri I turned into a couch potato.
