Vagifem for prolapse (how far to insert)?
« on: October 23, 2023, 10:54:35 PM »

Sorry to ask this, and I feel it's a bit tmi, but hope someone can help.

I'm using vagifem in the hope of helping my prolapse and urge incontinence.

I have a bladder and bowel prolapse (front & rear wall), I'm not sure exactly how much it's dropped, just that it is, according to gynaecologist/specialist, mild/grade 1 or 1 to 2.  When i insert a finger I can feel it just inside the entrance, and I can also see it inside at the entrance when looking in a mirror.

So because i dont know how much it has dropped at the top, but know its at the bottom near my entrance, should I be putting the pessaries far up like you're suppose to, or should I be just putting them just inside at the entrance where I can feel and see it?  Or perhaps alternate it every night?

Thanks

Why oh why don't medics give advice!  I would ring the Secretary and ask the question.  Why 'vagifem'?  Is the area particularly dry or itchy?

Let us know how you get on.  In the meantime, as far as is comfortable?

Thanks CLKD.  I will give my GP's secretary a ring, thank you.

There's no dryness or itching, it is just to try and see if it helps my prolapse and urge incontinence.

Hi - I'd suggest experimenting with both ways to see which feels the most comfortable. I have read that placing the pessary in the lower third of the vagina helps (in theory) but for me it seems to irritate my bladder! I actually find it most comfortable to aim quite high up and towards the rear. I use VFem every other day.
