Help, feel worse!
« on: October 20, 2023, 10:40:53 AM »

Hi ladies

Sorry if this is in wrong place.

Can anyone help please, I’m not good at all.  I’m over 60 total hysterectomy years ago and have been changed from 2.mg tablet as stopped  working to 100 estrodot 2 weeks ago.  I tried this but felt worse, anxiety through roof and crying all day so I went down to 75, felt bit better but I can’t live a normal life, I’m in house this 5 weeks, so sad as I’m normally a bubbly outgoing person.
I got up yesterday morn and felt v trembly so stuck on extra 25 patch and same reaction again.
I just don’t know what to do, I’m so frightened.  My specialist said to try the 100 patch and get bloods done in 6 weeks but this is total suffering.
Could it be that my body needs much less now?  My appetite is poor and my energy so low.  I had bloods checks not long ago and were all ok.  I do feel this is def hormones but I don’t know what to do🙁
Can anyone help? Thanks

I had a bad day yesterday  >:( with anxiety.

I would stop everything for 48 hours to see if those feelings settle.  U may be on too higher dose or not enough.  It mayB that alternative days/nights might suit ..... you could put the product names into the search box individually to see what pops up.  Make notes ;-).

Think back to why you decided on HRT ......... did the tablet help initially?

Hi Floral

You need to give changes in dose more time for your body to adjust, especially changing from tablet to patch. If insufficient oestrogen was the cause of your symptoms, depending what they are, eg sweats and flushes, then you should notice the difference very quickly. Other symptoms take time.

100 mcg is a pretty high dose for someone of your age if you are absorbing it. You've gone from a medium dose (2 mg tablet) to the upper end of high, with 100 mcg. Chopping and changing won't really tell you what's going on. I am surprised that you were put straight onto 100 mcg because usually the advice is to increase graudally - though obviously in your case as you are changing delivery method then it's not quite so straightforward. Is this an NHS specialist at a menopause clinic?

In your position, personally I would persist with the 75 mcg for a few weeks and see how you feel, if you felt some sort of improvement?

The other thing is if your appetite is poor then this sounds like it has nothing to do with hormones - and maybe something else going on? If lack of appetite persists I would definitely consult a normal GP.

Low energy - apart from the usual reasons, a bug, or inadequate vitamins or minerals (iron, vit D etc) - can also be caused by low testosterone - if you also had your ovaries removed when you had your hysterectomy. Have you ever been offered this as well as oestrogen?

Hope you manage to get this sorted so that you feel better soon

Hurdity x

Ladies thank you for replying. I am now thinking it’s a covid relapse that has kick started all this again🙁. The energy and low appetite were symptoms before but I think I just didn’t want to believe it!
I am staying on the 75 patch until I get my bloods tested.  Hurdity I am with a good specialist, she did mention the covid but I blanked it out of my mind as I didn’t want to go through all that trauma again.  It’s so very hard.
I notice conversion charts for hrt can differ, the Newson balance app says 2mg equal to 100 patch and BMS chart says 50 patch, I asked my specialist and she said 100, but it’s a no for me!
I was using testosterone everyday but it was all binding to my SHBG hence high at 200!!  FAI was 0.04, So that’s why iv been changed to patch🤞
CLKD tablet worked wonders at start until covid🙁🙁

It's known that Covid-19 messed with womens' hormone levels.  How do U feel over all?

It’s awful CLKD, I always had great energy.  I get anx spikes and my motivation is so low.  I have been resting this 5 weeks as no choice.  I had quite a few good months almost normal and it just floored me again!  I have awful night sweats and palpitations which waken me.  Had this all before but I didn’t think it would return🙁. I’m hoping new hrt will help some and taking care of myself.  It def has affected my hormones, almost like I’m not on any!
Thank you for taking the time to reply I’m v grateful x

Hi daisy I’m really sorry to hear this! Are you on hrt?  Yesterday for me was horrendous I didn’t think I’d make it.  I felt so very low, crying and so anxious.  I have to give my new patches time.  Woke early hours with adrenaline.  Just don’t know how to get through this nightmare.

If Nature hadn't intended us to cry ;-)

The anxiety can be cruel.  Can't remember whether U take anything to counteract it?  Brain fog this morning  >:(
