Brain Fog And Feeling Dopey
« on: October 07, 2023, 01:40:37 PM »

I've been on HRT for 14 months. I was peri, with irregular periods.
My GP asked if I wanted to bleed, I said not if I didn't have to as it was so all over the place, so she put me on Evorel Conti 50 in August 22.
Still struggling with brain fog, tiredness and lack of interest in life, I went to Newson and began Testogel in May.
I went back to my GP at the end of August as I was beginning to get night sweats and feeling dopey again.
I asked to switch and was put on Oestrogel 3 pumps and Utrogestan 100 continuously, this was 6 weeks ago. Still taking Testogel.
I am much better than I was but I still battle awful brain fog and a general dopeyness, like I've left my brain in bed, that just doesn't shift.
It seems worst in the week before and during when my period would be due. I haven't had a bleed since June 23.

Today I've given myself 4 pumps of Oestrogel in the vain hope of some improvement.
My last blood test showed oestrogen was 318, this was the week my period would have been due. All other bloods are fine. Diet is good.

Has anyone got any thoughts and suggestions on anything else I can try or tweak, to try and get my brain out of this foggy dopey state?

Thank you all

My brain has been similar since Feb  >:( it simply doesn't want to wake up.  Even missed an appt recently because my head wouldn't lift from the pillow!  From March-August I took VitD capsules which didn't help.  I will be having more bloods next week.

This certainly sounds cyclical 4 U.  C how U are on the extra pump - I wouldn't increase too much too soon, mayB allow your body to adjust gently?

let us know how you get on.

Thanks for your reply @CLKD sorry to hear your brain is in the same boat  :( It's rubbish isn't it.

Yes, I think it's cyclical, seems to tie in. It's strange, I went from Evorel 50 to 3 pumps and didn't notice any difference/side effects. It will be interesting to see if increasing to 4 pumps has a noticable effect. I was planning to do it for 2 weeks of the month and depending how I am maybe keep it at that? I really don't know what to do for the best. Just keep on tweaking I guess!  :-\

I feel like I am my own lab rat! ;D

Not a rat, surely  :D.  A cool cat more like?

It can be Trial and Error and replacement is bound to be affected by how the hormone levels are interacting.  Some find that keeping amood/food/symptom diary of use.

@CLKD I aspire to be a cool cat but most definitely lab rat right now  ;D

I have so many period trackers, balance app, my personal calendars and diaries, its remembering to keep up with them all that's the problem.
I think I'm going to stick with 2 weeks 4 pumps and 2 weeks 3 pumps for a couple or three months and see if that helps. If it doesn't I really don't know what to try next, I guess I'll be back to Newsons.  :-\
