New Shaped Oestrogel Bottle Issues - Again!
« on: October 05, 2023, 06:46:18 AM »

Hi All,

I am one of the women who seems to be really affected by the new shaped Oestogel bottles produced by Besins.

As soon as I started the new bottle all my symptoms returned. I was able to get some of the old shaped bottles and everything was fine again.

I can no longer get the old shaped bottles and I am really fed up. We are being told that the gel is exactly the same but it is NOT the same. I have tried increasing the dosage as it has been suggested that the new bottle dispenses less get per pump, but that has not helped at all!

Like thousands of other women I have reported my concerns about the Oestrogel to the Yellow Card scheme but who knows if we will ever get an answer or the same product each time we go to pick up our prescription!

I am now thinking of changing to the Sandrena gel. Has anyone else made this swap and did you feel any better on the different gel?

It's really frustrating isn't it Mrslolad.

Did you try an extra pump before swapping or have you just decided to swap because you feel the product is completely different?

So frustrating. I noticed the issue back in June and was swapped to patches. But I dont absorb from them and experienced a scary hormone crash so put myself back on the gel. Managed to settle on the old bottle and then couldn’t get it and haven’t felt right on the new one. (Despite trying two different new bottles). I did try increasing the dose but still no joy.

As I’ve battled back from the crash am so scared that something goes wrong with swapping to Sandrena. Am going to have to put my big girl pants on and just do it though as I can’t go on like this…

I am convinced the product is actually different rather than it just being a dispensing issue which I why I asked if you had tried increasing the dosage.

There have been days on the original style bottle where I maybe put on my clothes before it was dry or I brushed past something and wiped some of it off by accident and it never affected me like this.

I also think it has a different smell and consistency.

I am going to call my meno nurse to discuss swapping. I just want to find something that works and I know will be the same when I pick up my next prescription rather than it being a lottery as to which bottle I receive.

At the moment it only seems to be Besins that are investigating this which is rather like marking your own homework!

I agree that it is more than just a dispensing issue. I find it smells like hand sanitiser.

Hi, I am only after finishing my 1st bottle of oestrogel and am only realising this issue. Obviously I haven't had symptoms that were gone returning but I was expecting it to have more of an effect than it did. My bottle lasted for 76 pumps instead of the 64 that is written on the bottle. So not dispensing enough. I see some people on insta are using precision scales to weigh out their dose, I think I will do that!
