Ovarian Cyst
« on: September 14, 2023, 07:16:17 AM »

I had an ultrasound yesterday after 18 months on HRT (Oetrogel 1 to 2 pumps daily and 100 to 200 Utrogestan and testogel 1 sachet applied daily over 8 days) the womb lining is fine but I have a 6cm cyst on my left ovary. So I wonder is that caused by stopping the mini pill 2 months ago or does the testosterone contribute to this? Also, could the cyst be the reason for the morning cramping, constant spotting/intermittent heavy bleeding, IBS type symptoms and daily loose stools? I'm considering the Mirena, can I have that while I've got a cyst and could it help or worsen the situation? I wish I could just get things balanced and feel comfortable again. Any help and advice gratefully received. Thanks in advance.

Hi there, just to let you know that I also had a ovarian cyst just under 2 inches (it has gone now), and I still had my Mirena fitted no problem x

Hi Nicola, I had a scan a few weeks ago which found a 4.1cm fluid filled cyst. Doc said that fluid filled was good (rather than solid mass) but any cyst over 4cm should get a follow up scan to monitor growth. Sometimes these things happen regardless of what hormones you’re taking but do make sure you get followed up. Vast majority of cysts are benign but it’s good to keep an eye!
