cruralgia and arthrosis
« on: August 10, 2023, 06:10:39 PM »

I am more discourage right now. I had x rays done and the GP told me I have cruralgia and arthrosis...but I have no pain.  I am on Premarin for 3 weeks now ( I saw private gynecologist) and its a little bit better on most days. My worst symptom is : need to pee even if there is no urine. Now, she (GP) is saying that the symptom (need to pee) is not related to vaginal atrophy.. she is blame it on cruralgia and arthrosis (some nerve close to the bladder)..Need to to exercices.. I left the office in tears !!!!!!!! Dont know who to believe anymore..

Please can somebody reassure me !!

Off to do a GOOGLE  ::)

What has your GP advised other than exercise and did she recommend that you see a physiotherapist interested in womens health?

Does arthrosis mean arthritis? [from NHS site]

Arthrosis is another name for OA, one type of arthritis. It's the most common type of arthritis, according to the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases . It's caused by normal wear and tear on your joints and cartilage.. OA = osteo arthritis

Certainly as an orthopaedic secretary I've never heard of cruralgia and NHS doesn't have much to say!

The need to P is typical of vaginal atrophy - do U have any treatment?

I would seek advice from a physio.

Yes I have treatment. I saw the gynecologist (private) (July 14) and she told me that I have VA and need to pee is related. I have Premarin cream and I bought moisturizer.. But the GP does not believe the need to pee is related to VA.   and yes, she told me to see a physio or check on like to do pelvic floor exercices..I wish I could have a better doctor....I am happy that I have found this site, I learn a lot more than talking to my doctor.

Your GP is thick.  Do U have any follow up appts with the private specialist, I would at least be letting her know of your GP's ignorance [lack of knowledge].

I would also buy a copy of 'me and my menopausal vagina', written by a forum member: read and pass to your GP ;-).

I would ring your surgery and ask for a referral to a dedicated NHS Menopause specialist - not a gynaecologist as they don't have as much knowledge about peri etc..  I read up about 'Premarin' - it states 'to be used after menopause'  :-\.  We are never 'after' anything  ::) menopause is for life.

Let us know how you get on.  There is a product: gina: I think, that is over the counter for ladies over 50 ....... might be worth a shot though we should not have to buy treatments which are available on the NHS.  Sometimes, needs must  :-\

No dont have follow up with the gynecologist...and its so hard here to find a doctor, a specialist etc.. I talked to urologist on june 9. and i still wait for hospital to call for bladder exam...so discouraged here, cause you have time to die before they call...the older you get, the less services you have...

Are you able to see a womans pelvic physio privately ?  Your GP has suggested this but does not seem to have referred you on to someone.  Seeing such a physio can help and give you more information.

Afraid that it is not a fat lot different here.

Ring the gynae and explain your problems in relation to the GP.
Could you take a cancellation - if so ring the dept to let them know, it may be a matter of a few hours notice though

Let us know how you get on.  The NHS has been on its knees for years, the Pandemic accelerated problems then the medics decided to go on strike .......  :-X
