Hi,
I've been on HRT for about 5 years. Started on Femoston and progressed to my current regime of 3 pumps of Oestrogel and 200mg of oral Utrogestan 14 nights out of 28. I'm 51. For the most part my current regime is going well. GP wants me to change to 100mg Urtrogestan continuously, may try this next month.
My main reason for posting is regarding my dry eyes. I've been under the care of the eye hospital for over six months. No need for me to waffle on about this condition other than it has really had a very negative impact on my quality of life in so many ways.
The hospital have tried all sorts, the next step will be to permanently close the drainage holes for my eyes.
A lovely member of this forum messaged me a few months ago and mentioned testosterone. I find it all a bit confusing to say the least.
I currently take an array of supplements, seabuckthorn being one which seems to have alleviated lots of areas of dryness, just not my eyes.
When I googled this I do feel I have a number of symptoms currently that may align with low testosterone:
Severe dry eye syndrome
Low energy
Bladder weakness
Low sex drive
How would I go about exploring if testosterone is an option for me? Is there any point in contacting my GP or are they unable to prescribe for women?
I've tried to broach the subject of HRT with the eye hospital but they seem purely focused (no pun intended!) on fixing my eye problem and not interested in the HRT side of things...
I really would appreciate any input. I would have emailed Dr Currie but she is not accepting new enquiries at the moment.
I will more than happily approach a private specialist if this is the route I need to take?
Many thanks.
