Testo gel
« on: August 09, 2023, 12:29:19 PM »

Hi all I've started on T last wk and could do with a bit of help. Firstly how the heck do you measure 0.3 of a ml. ? Used the syringe it came with but somehow managed to use a full sachet in 5 days...
Also how long did it take to show signs of working?
I've got my first box of gel from the hospital but have been told that my g.p will prescribe in future. Is this straight forward?

Hi

I started last week too. I tried the syringe but too fiddly so just use so just put a smidge on my finger!

I don’t like the feeling it gives me though. I feel anxious and wired all day despite using a tiny amount.

The consultant wrote to my GP asking to prescribe it in future so I assume they will.
But Im unsure if I’m going to continue.

I have an appointment next week as a blood test showed very low testosterone. I am also curious about how to get the correct amount, but now also worried about possible side effects. I suffer from anxiety anyway, lots of work and therapy made it manageable. I would not like to go back to severe anxiety and panic. Sorry to hear you are feeling like that Nik2502, but thank you for sharing. I wonder if this is a common side effect. I think I can cope with tiredness, brain fog etc much better than with anxiety.

Hi Stella2

I’ve decided to stop using it. I don’t like the way it makes me feel.

Yesterday I had the shakes, felt wired all day and just not myself. Very anxious - which is the worst bit for me too.

Apparently it takes up to 7 days to leave your system so I’ll see how I get on over the next few days.

I hope you will feel better soon now when you stopped using it Nik. Hopefully it will get out of the system quickly, it's awful to feel this way but now you know the feeling is due to this and it will go away x

Hi August, another alternative is Tostran gel which I use, comes in a pump and is easier to administer the dose. I rub on inner thigh.
I am on just one pump twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays. If I try to increase too much i.e every other day, I get a bit jittery too. But it has certainly helped the libido!!
Good luck with finding the balance.

Hi Nik I might be lucky. No side effects so far. Although I suffer with anxiety anyway so would be hard to tell the difference. Sorry its not working out for you x

Yes I did August. Seems to be ok on 2 pumps Tostran a week though. Oh the joys....!

The problem with both Tostran is that it is twice the concentration (2 % T) of both the old testogel  sachets (1% T) and the Testim tubes (1% T), and the new Testogel sachets (1.6 % T) are also higher dose than the previous testogel sachets. The standard prescription also seems quite high ie make a sachet last 8 days.

For years I used the 1 % testogel sachets and always used a pea sized blob and the sachets lasted way longer than suggested (supposed to be 10 days). I now have Testim and still use a pea-sized blob and the tube lasts me ages - yet it has the desired effect. OK we are all different but I wouldn't want to use a whole pump of Tostran ie 10 mg testosterone at once - because of potential side effects from a big hit of T. As far as I know these products have not been properly tested on women in trials for side effects and indeed long term effects so I understand the need for caution.

If anyone has a choice then I would go for Testim because they come as little tubes with a screw cap, so you just squeeze a little blob out and rub it in the desired location :). That to me is the best way to start - tiny little blob and then you should hopefully not get any of the undesirable side effects....
