Endometrium Lining
« on: August 06, 2023, 09:25:23 PM »

Hi all, I'm new to this forum. Just wondered if anyone could answer these questions?

I've been on HRT conti for 7 months and began bleeding for 3 weeks. I then went for a private scan which showed the endo lining of 5.6. Doctor has stopped HRT for 6 weeks. In the meantime bleeding has stopped.

Will the lining deminish because I have stopped HRT? Or will I need to be referred on the 2 week pathway?

Thanks

Chris

5.6 isn't in my opinion 'high' enough to stop HRT.  What prompted U to the scan?  MayB get an appt with a dedicated menopause specialist for advice?  There are waiting lists!

How do U feel otherwise.  If your Doctor thinks you should have been referred then mayB ring and ask the question?  Why 6 weeks .........  ::)

Hi. If you put Utrogestan Bleeding into the search box it should bring up relevant posts. I've found this one https://www.menopausematters.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,48214.0.html#msg779310

Some women always bleed on continuous progesterone no matter which one.

Utrogeston doesn't seem to be as good as the synthetic progestins at keeping the lining thin. Rather than stopping oestrogen you'd usually be offered double dose of utro or an alternative such as a mirena. I don't know if the lining will diminish or just not build up further without hrt, another scan after progesterone to thin it would be my preferred option. Norethisterone is quite effective too. Utrogeston is supposed to be more effective used vaginally as more gets where it's needed so you could try that.

Mine was just over 5mm first time and I had a biopsy because I was on hrt through the NHS 2 week pathway.

Was this recently because I think the guidelines may have changed to 8mm for  a two week referral .

I’ve just had a full hysterectomy 18 weeks ago for cancerous cells😢 I was referred again with bleeding this time lining ok but nurse still did a biopsy and it came back abnormal. This all happened within 15mths of it being clear first time.

Hi

I’ve just had investigations for a post menopausal bleed. My lining was 11mm.
As it has been 11mm for the past ten years they concluded I’ve a naturally thicker lining. All reference ranges are just that.
It’s best to get any abnormal bleeding investigated though.
