Testogel Week 10
« on: July 26, 2023, 04:19:03 PM »

I spent a lot of time on this forum looking for info (and hope) before getting testosterone added my HRT prescription so I thought I'd share my experience of Testogel at 10 weeks.

Hope it helps someone.

So, I've been using the testogel for 10 weeks now. Dose is a 50mg sachet over 10 days, so roughly 5mg per day.

(I'm also on Lenzetto and Utrogestan, which I was using well before adding the Testogel.)

At this point the testosterone benefits are most definitely there in all the areas I hoped it would improve - which were regaining lost mental clarity, motivation, energy, and physical strength and stamina. Libido wasn't a massive concern for me, but that had dropped off a cliff too.

Don't get me wrong, it hasn't been a magic fix all. I'm not "there" yet, but things are going in the right direction.

I can relate to what I've seen many other women post here and elsewhere about the progressive improvements - very gradual and more noticeable some days than others.

Actually, that said, I could do with my libido cooling off a bit. The nightly sex dreams and "noticing" men a lot more were fun at first, but are getting kind of inconvenient and distracting now!

I've read a lot of posts where women say this happens in the early stages of TRT and then calms down, so hopefully it'll go that way for me rather than ramping up further!

I am mostly hoping for further improvements on the mental side and more muscle (re)gain.

I don't want to speak too soon, it's still early days, but I haven't noticed any unwanted side effects as yet (apart from the overactive libido).

I don't usually get away with much but maybe life is throwing me a bone for once on this!

Have to say though, the sides would have to be very bad to outweigh the benefits I'm seeing, especially if things continue getting better, so I'm not too worried about them.

Very interested to hear other women's experiences and happy to answer questions.

Thank you so much for sharing you experience so far and I’m really happy for you that you’ve noticed so many improvements!

I started testosterone four weeks ago so your post gives me hope that good things are to come in the future!

Can I ask at what point you started to notice any subtle differences?

Ah, this a question I looked up a lot of time in the early weeks and I now understand why so many women replied saying it's tricky to answer!

It was so very gradual, it's really hard to pin down. Probably around the 8 week mark there was a point where I noticed I'd been feeling a little better in several ways, consistently for a while.

Sorry I can't be more specific - you'll probably understand why in a couple of months! Hope this helps a bit though.

Hi pineappletop

Glad you're seeing the benefits of T replacement. There is a long-running thread in"private lives" section of the forum called "Testosterone Here We Go" where I posted about my experiences though it's not much used now I don't think and goes off track a bit. You might find something useful there. If it isn't on the front page I'll bump it for you.

Another thing - how come you have Testogel 1 % sachets still?!! There were discontinued and replaced with smaller sachets of more concentrated Testogel, though Testim is still available as 50 g tubes of 1 % gel....Maybe thy're being made again?

Hi Pineappletop,

Thanks for sharing your positive experience. Very helpful!

I’m away to start testosterone tomorrow but unfortunately could only get Testavan which is 1% but 23mg per pump so I was going to try to make one pump last 4-5 days. Does the gel keep ok in foil?

I can’t think of a better way to take it.

Hi Hurdity! Lovely to get a reply from you, I've actually read loads of posts on your testosterone thread. Can't thank you enough for all you've shared there.

I had no idea the type of Testogel sachets I have were discontinued. It's just what I was prescribed by my NHS GP. I don't know if there have been any changes with it.

Do you know why the type I have were discontinued?

Hi Evie,
So glad it's helpful. Yes, seems to be fine over the 10 days - no difference in consistency between day 1 and day 10, as far as I can tell. I use one of those mini foldback paperclips to keep it sealed.

I've heard of people who have the bigger dose pumps keeping the gel in little syringes (without needles, just for storage not injecting) so they can measure out their daily amount and keep the rest "fresh".

Best of luck with it,! x

Hi again,

Great idea about the syringe, I had a search using “syringe” and got some great tips too. Testavan is actually 2% so I might stretch one pump further than 5 doses to start off with.

Many thanks!
