Hi all. I am post menopause aged 59. I was told to come off HRT by a doctor a few Years ago due to lining of the womb build up. Ultrasound scan showed a polyp, hence this was spotted. So I have been plodding on suffering with insomnia, hot flushes since and have recently found I’m tearful at times due to lack of sleep as things have steadily got worse. I recently visited a different doctor due to something else and mentioned I am suffering with symptoms even though post menopause, but can’t take HRT and she said I should have been helped with other type if HRT. Didn’t the doctor help you? I said no, he told me to come straight off it and not go back on it. He said not to take HRT and stay off it. All this time I have been suffering and I should have been given further help. I am presently in an urgent queue system for gynaecology department as I may have a hysterectomy due to fibroids, but until I speak with them I don’t know what is going to happen. Multiple Fibroids have calcified and believe putting pressure on bladder. Obviously if I had to have hysterectomy you will be on a certain hormone treatment after anyway. In the mean time I’m desperate for hormone treatment to help with my symptoms and been told by a doctor today that I will need to speak with a specialist when I see gynaecology as because I have previously had a build up of the lining of the womb he would not be able to advise what would be best for me to take. He offered me antidepressants and the coil. I did not get on with the coil in the past, so not for me. Why oh why are we women palmed off with antidepressants! I know that it is hormone replacement that I need as I was in Everol Conti and they instantly helped with my sleep, hot flushes, fatigue and hormone replacement I know is what I require. I am suffering from symptoms not knowing how long I am going to have to wait to see a specialist. In this day and age why oh why do we not have a specialist that we can liaise with even if it’s a specialist that comes to a local surgery say twice a Month. It is poor that we do not have anyone we can go to, to get the help and advice we require. Any post menopause ladies out there had same issues & still suffering from symptoms.
