Bloating
« on: July 09, 2023, 08:30:10 PM »

Oh god help me,
My bloating is off the scake tonight. Since I've been peri my stomach has changed shape. It sticks out from my boobs and all the way down. A real curve which I find horrible. Most of the time it feels flabby and I know I need to lose weight but tonight it feels so uncomfortable. Big, hard, just awful.
I'm at the end of my period.
Is it normal to have such a bloated stomach?
What can make it worse?
What can ease it?
Thanks!

Bloating is such a horrid feeling. If you keep a food diary perhaps you could see if any food is a trigger? I had terrible bloating recently and managed to work out it was a new supplement I was taking. I think one of the filers were causing me to bloat.

Do you think you may have IBS? That can cause terrible bloating too.

Hi 👋
I dont know if I have ibs, I would say its worse since I've been menopausal.
Good idea about the diary, I'll do that.

I’m a bit confused. Are you menopausal or are you still having periods? If you’re still having natural periods then you’re perimenopausal and the bloating is caused by your progesterone levels being in decline. Progesterone is your natural diuretic. Are you on HRT?

I avoid dairy and take biokult probiotics and charcoal tablets.
I tried some digestive enzymes too, don't know if they helped or not, I'm certain the other things helped me with bloating.
I guess it's trial and error to find what works for you.

Sorry, I'm perimenopausal...brain fog.
Periods are fewer and fewer and been in perimenopause for about 9 years.

Not on HRT,
Tried it last October and struggled a bit. Estrogen was great but I was quite unwell with the progesterone (utrogestan I think)

A lot of women have problems with the progesterone part. I found utrogestan made me very alert and completely miserable taken orally, not tolerable at all.
Last month I took the utrogestan vaginally for the 12 days instead, very little in the way side effects that way. I slept ok, my mood was stable, just some heartburn.
I'm on my seventh HRT combination now and I feel like I'm getting somewhere at last.
It might be worth another try.
