Tibilone stopped after TIA
« on: July 10, 2023, 12:49:17 PM »

I had been on Tibilone for 25+ years ,feeling very well. I am 67 years old. Oct last year had a TIA. Recovered quickly, Dr stopped Tibilone HRT.Now I feel dreadful, hot flashes back, anxiety and tearful. Should I ask to go back on it, Dr did say they would be very reluctant to re prescribe . Any suggestions very welcome

Was a cause given for the TIA?  Hospital admission?  Have you been checked on a regular basis?

Quality of Life is important.  MayB have a chat with the Nurse Practitioner at your surgery and get onto a waiting list for a dedicated menopause clinic.

Make a list of symptoms to discuss.  Let us know how you get on .  No one should suffer!

I'm sorry to hear that Christine but pleased you recovered quickly. It seems that tibolone and other oral HRT is not recommended for those over 60 due to the increased risk of stroke. The good news is that transdermal HRT such as patches or gel does not carry the same risk so I would think you would be able to use this method.
